Avantgarde Finance

Avantgarde is a crypto-native asset management firm that has been building in DeFi since 2016, applying institutional discipline on-chain to deliver sustainable, risk-adjusted returns at the digital asset frontier. With decades of tier-1 TradFi experience and as co-founders of asset management protocol Enzyme, we blend rigorous risk-management and capital-markets expertise with deep, hands-on knowledge of DeFi protocols and infrastructure to serve as a trusted strategic partner within the ecosystem.

We are proud to support industry-leading crypto organisations and protocols with curated vault strategies, bespoke treasury management and active DAO governance; including Uniswap, Arbitrum, Morpho, Nexus Mutual, Compound, Gitcoin, and others.

Voting Philosophy & Core Principles

The team brings a wealth of experience from firms like Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, Messari, Genesis, and Binance and has been building in DeFi for many years as treasury managers, strategy curators, and infrastructure providers. As active delegates in DAOs like Uniswap, Compound and Velora, we’re deeply emerged in the crypto ecosystem where we leverage our network and partners to create synergies and win-win outcomes.

Avantgarde’s core vision and mission is all about delivering the ultimate crypto and asset management experience through innovative products and services rooted in transparency, simplicity, and accessibility. By bringing a wealth of financial and builders expertise across both TradFi and DeFi, we support DAOs in key areas such as capital allocation, vault curation, treasury management, liquidity provision, and ecosystem growth.

Our governance contributions are shaped by a few key values:

Decentralization: At its core, crypto is about distributing control back to the community. We’re committed to supporting initiatives that stay true to this mission.

Transparency: We value clear communication alongside honest and straightforward processes, ensuring everyone understands what’s happening and why, which helps align efforts toward shared goals.

Accessibility: Participation shouldn’t be limited to those with technical knowledge or insider experience. We strive to make governance, funding structures, and community involvement as approachable and understandable as possible for everyone.

Accountability: A healthy DAO requires transparency and follow-through. We’ll push for initiatives to include well-defined goals, progress checkpoints, and clear reporting structures to make sure actions align with commitments.

Growth: The crypto industry moves at an incredible pace. To achieve long-term success, DAOs need both ambition and adaptability; to take calculated risks and pursue innovation. Our priority is to remain open to new opportunities, empower builders, and ensure the DAO can scale effectively in a competitive environment by supporting thoughtful, sustainable growth strategies

Commitment to Rootstock

Rootstock’s mission of bringing Bitcoin-secured smart contracts to a global audience aligns closely with our own vision of expanding financial access and decentralization. As Rootstock grows its ecosystem of builders, applications, and adoption within Bitcoin communities, we see an important role for Avantgarde to:

  • Support Builders & Adoption: Back proposals that empower developers, strengthen infrastructure, and attract real usage on Rootstock.

  • Promote Sustainable Treasury Practices: Apply our asset management and treasury expertise to ensure Rootstock’s resources are used effectively for long-term growth.

  • Strengthen Governance: Advocate for transparent, inclusive, and accountable governance processes that empower Rootstock’s global community.

  • Enable Cross-Ecosystem Synergies: Leverage our active participation in other DAOs to connect Rootstock with broader DeFi, liquidity, and RWA opportunities.

Overall, our goal is to bring holistic practices and proven expertise to help Rootstock evolve in an organized, transparent, and sustainable way.

Conflicts of Interest:

While no direct conflict of interest exists, Avantgarde is actively contributing and working with a number of chains across the wider crypto ecosystem. We will look to leverage our network and experience from these ecosystems, and will diligently disclose any conflicts of interest should any such situation arise. Should a conflict of interest arise, our general rule is to abstain from voting on proposals where we stand to directly benefit. If in doubt, we will disclose the case in question and consult the community for advice.

[2510] Grant Proposal - Rootstock Ecosystem Roadshow

Avantgarde voted in support of the Rootstock Ecosystem Roadshow. See our comment in the proposal thread below:

[2509 Grant Proposal] Searching for Collective Ambassadors

Avantgarde voted in support because this proposal is a measurable and low-cost way to grow the Rootstock community in new areas. We believe the plan is solid as it sets clear goals for ambassadors and gives Rootstock a chance to build irl connections and attract new people in important markets.

[0907 Grant Proposal] Rootstock QuestHub - M2

Avantgarde voted in support of releasing Milestone 2 funds for the Rootstock QuestHub, after having confirmed with the Rootstock core team that Milestone 1 had been achieved to a satisfactory level.

[2510 Grant] Timelock and Multisig Governance tool for Rootstock

We voted in support as we think making governance and multisig operations safer is a fundamental need for the whole ecosystem and all Rootstock protocols. The team is experienced, and the cost is reasonable for the value this delivers to the community.

[0606 Grant Proposal] ONG Bitcoin Argentina - Scaling Rootstock Adoption

We voted in support of this initiative. It’s a well-thoughtout plan to drive adoption in the Latin American market that combines broad marketing with practical, hands-on education, and we think partnering with an established local organization like ONG Bitcoin makes sense as an affordable way to grow the grassroots user base in the region.

2510 Grant] Self Sovereign Identity (SSI) sandbox rootstock integration

We voted to support this grant as self-sovereign identity is a high-potential use case for blockchain tech. The team’s prior experience with major identity projects in Latin America gives us a lot more confidence than if this would be starting from scratch. The path to initial adoption seems clear as does the planned pilot program as a reasonable starting point. We view this as a worthwhile “high-upside” investment that could help position Rootstock within a powerful, real-world application area.

[2510 RootstockCollective Ambassador Proposal] Renewal

We voted in support of renewing the ambassador program. Georgia (Community Manager) provided a clear summary showing that the ambassadors have successfully met their core performance goals from the previous cycle. We believe a sensible evolution of the program has also been outlined, and agree with the shift from (rigid) output-based metrics to a more flexible approach that prioritizes high-impact engagement.

[2508 Grant] Infrastructure Ventures Path to Ecosystem Growth

We voted in support of this prop as we see it as a smart, low-risk bet on what appears to be a very capable team. The proposal would be filling an important complementary gap by sourcing and mentoring projects before they come to the DAO, essentially creating a pipeline of “DAO-ready” teams. The proposal is structured to protect the DAO finances as the team only gets significant pay after delivering real results. We also appreciate the staking requirement seeking to force projects to have real skin in the game.

[0907 Grant Proposal] Rootstock QuestHub - M4

We voted against this proposal as we don’t believe the final milestone had been sufficiently met, while there was also some minor issues in the proposal itself. Existing UX issues on the website have been well noted and received in the proposal’s forum post, so we are expecting this to be resolved soon, at which point we will be happy to support a re-submission.

[Grant 2511] Recognized Delegate Compensation - October 2025

We voted in support of the Recognized Delegate Compensation to facilitate the first payment of said program, which we think makes a lot of sense to take the Collective to the next level. This will ensure a broader, dedicated set of delegates contributing to the DAO. We have already seen the positive impact this has had on forum activity and ensuring proposals receive adequate feedback.
