Ecosystem Grant Themes Update

Hello Rootstock Community,

The Grant Team at Rootstock Collective is excited to share an important update and invite your valuable input. One of our key goals this year is to better align ecosystem priorities with developer initiatives, helping guide projects towards areas where they can create the greatest impact.

Why We’re Doing This:

  • Improved Deal Flow: By clearly communicating ecosystem needs, we attract highly relevant projects that can significantly advance our collective goals.
  • Maximizing Hackathon Impact: By highlighting priority areas, we enable developers at hackathons to focus their creativity and efforts on solving the ecosystem’s most pressing challenges.
  • Accelerating Ecosystem Development: Structured guidance will enable us to swiftly address strategic priorities and critical ecosystem gaps.

Initial Themes for Community Input

We’re starting with three core themes that we believe hold significant potential:

1. Sustainable Yield

We’re interested in projects that create sustainable yield opportunities for both users and DeFi protocols. Areas of interest include:

  • Yield-generation platforms leveraging Rootstock.
  • Integration of Real-World Assets (RWAs) driving sustainable returns.
  • Institutional-focused DeFi solutions enhancing reliability and trust.
  • Institutional enablers (such as on-chain insurance).

2. Interoperable Bitcoin Layers

We aim to tackle fragmentation within the Bitcoin ecosystem by funding solutions that enhance interoperability, with Rootstock at the core. Potential projects could include:

  • Bridges connecting Bitcoin networks and beyond.
  • Exchanges, aggregators, and tools improving cross-chain liquidity.
  • Wallets and interfaces simplifying the user experience across multiple Bitcoin layers, especially L2 solutions.

3. Enhanced Access to RBTC and Relay Improvements

Streamlining user access to RBTC is crucial. We’re seeking initiatives that improve entry points into Rootstock, including:

  • Tools facilitating quick and easy RBTC onboarding.
  • Projects improving the efficiency of Relay mechanisms.
  • Wider adoption and integration of RIF Relay to enhance user experience.

Your Input Matters

We invite you to share your thoughts, insights, and any additional recommendations you might have. If there are other strategic themes or priority areas you believe deserve attention, please propose them below for community discussion.

Thank you for your continued engagement and for helping us drive meaningful innovation within our ecosystem.

Warm regards,
The Grant Team at Rootstock Collective

Integrate RBTC into major centralized exchanges (CEXs) such as Binance, OKX, Kraken, Coinbase, BITSO, Ripio, and XAPO.

It’s crucial to avoid repeating past mistakes in how RBTC was listed on exchanges (for example, the way it was listed on LBANK and Kukoin). The proper approach is how it was done on Lemon: users can deposit and withdraw RBTC, but no new token is listed.

DOC and BPro tokens should also be included when negotiating these listings.

Additionally, it’s important to work with leading Web3 wallets to support Rootstock and it’s protocols in their dApps—for example, through integration with OKX and Binance web3 wallets.

Manu, these are all relevant points, thank you for raising.

I understand RBTC listing on CEXs involves many factors, including high costs, and might have an indirect effect on Rootstock’s native tokens. So I think that might be a careful decision to be taken.

But integrating Rootstock on OKX wallet should not be very complex and costly. All my experiences with OKX wallet were positive, so I’d support this.

Lets try to raise awareness of the points you raised to Rootstock management.

Thank you, Manu. Those are great points. We will add these to the Interoperability theme.

Regarding negotiations - we will have a chance to ask as members of the DAO should such proposals be submitted.

If you have any exchanges in mind - please feel free to champion them!

Thanks for your reply @ChronoTrigger.

To clarify, Rootstock (the blockchain) and Rootstock Collective (the DAO) operate independently from Rootstock Labs. While Rootstock Labs contributes actively to the ecosystem, it does not manage or oversee proposals submitted to the Rootstock Collective DAO. Decisions made within the DAO are community-driven and separate from the Rootstock Labs management team.
