RC V8.2 Release Note

Summary

TL;DR: The Rootstock Collective Foundation is pleased to announce V8.2, which continues to improve engagement across the community, while delivering meaningful upgrades for Builders. This release includes stability improvements around TheGraph, and an embedded USDT0 → USDRIF swapper directly within the USD Vault Sandbox. We also introduce enhancements across proposals and social sharing, alongside a powerful new Proposal Creation Markdown Editor for Grantees.

Building on recent usability and transparency improvements in V8.1, V8.2 focuses on key Collective workflows, while continuing to support the USD Vault Sandbox as a hosted beta tool within the dApp.

Community Benefits

  • USD Vault Sandbox participants can now swap USDT0 to USDRIF directly within the dApp using an embedded Uniswap-powered swapper — making it easier than ever to enter the Vault and explore stable-value yield mechanics without leaving the core experience…

  • Transparency continues to be a core theme of the Collective. This release adds CSV export functionality for Staking History, introduces a mobile-optimized Staking History view, and links Rewards transactions directly to the Rootstock Explorer — ensuring members can independently verify and analyze their on-chain activity.

  • Engagement improvements help surface important content more effectively. Proposal videos on mobile are now positioned above the fold (no more scrolling!), and proposal links shared on X now include thumbnails — improving visibility and discoverability across social channels, as requested by the Foundation.

  • We’ve also introduced a 6-month ABI average for global ABI reporting, providing a more stable and representative metric for the community…

  • For the Builder community, V8.2 delivers meaningful upgrades. Proposal creation now includes a full Markdown Editor, enabling richer, clearer, and more structured proposals.

  • A number of maintenance updates to dependencies and stability improvements around TheGraph have also been included to ensure ongoing reliability and performance of the dApp.

Thanks for the update, @Georgia! Great to see a lot of new improvements to the dapp, which makes the participants easily interact with the proposal and sandbox feature.

We have a couple of feedback and questions:

Just found that the proposal creation landing page has these wordings on requirements before applying for a grant. We believe we can rewrite them for clarity:

Complete KYC section

This section can emphasize more on completing KYC before submitting an onchain proposal (note: the next screen has more clarified warnings, but grantees would miss them)

Post on Discourse section

Not just “share your proposal”, but make sure that grantees have properly addressed feedback from delegates and contributors, and update the proposal to its complete form.

Also, do you have any metrics in how many proposals are created via this proposal creation tool? Close to 100%?

Thank you, Georgia, for sharing these updates about the dApp. I appreciate the transparency and commitment to intuitive UI/UX for users.

Feedback on stRIF flow: As a user, I’d find it helpful to see a list of top delegates displayed within the interface .This would complete the stRIF flow and provide better visibility for users.

It would be a nice enhancement to feature top delegates on the first page—similar to how “Builders in the Spotlight” is displayed—so RIF holders have greater visibility and transparency when choosing delegates.

Question on the swap integration: You mentioned that “USD Vault Sandbox participants can now swap USDT0 to USDRIF directly within the dApp using an embedded Uniswap-powered swapper.” Since Rootstock isn’t supported on the Uniswap front-end app, are you using OKU’s API for this integration?

Feedback on the USDC sandbox: I’m not sure what the best solution is here, but I wanted to flag that with Rootstock’s current gas fees, it doesn’t make much economic sense for users to stake small amounts like $100. The transaction costs can quickly eat into any meaningful returns at that deposit level. That said, it’s a sandbox and a learning experience—just something to keep in mind as you prepare for launch after the sandbox period ends.
