[Builder Rewards Activation] Asami.club

Builder Project Name: Asami.club

Submission Date: January 10, 2025

Sector: Social media advertising

Links: asami.club

Description: We are a club where members get paid in DOC to repost messages on X, amplifying advertisers’ messages to a genuine audience.

Mission and Progress:

This is not our first time asking for your support, so this application is more of an update on our previous one, which you can see here

Almost 200 unique social media handles have discovered that trend creation is valuable and that they can get paid for it. (source)

We currently have 14 advertisers who have created over 100 campaigns and received 4,100 reposts. (listed here)

Over 5,300 DOC have changed hands in this process.

Thanks to your support, we were able to move forward with our roadmap in key areas:

  • We’ve grown our active member base, both in collaborators and advertisers.
  • We improved the experience for advertisers. They can now segment their audience and control their campaign budgets, choosing the maximum and minimum price an individual collaborator should receive.
  • We deployed a new algorithm to measure reach and made price discovery possible: Campaign administrators only measure, while advertisers decide how much that reach is worth to them.
  • We’ve added an ‘Asami Explorer’ tool, allowing navigation of all the club’s data for transparency and other types of analysis. (For example, here’s a list of all members sorted by how many collaborations they’ve completed)

Now, we’ve set our sights a bit higher:

  • We want advertisers to be able to evaluate individual collaborators and create allow and reject lists for their campaigns.
  • We want to improve the stability and performance of the system, elevating the software from “passion project quality” to “industrial quality.”
  • Most importantly, we want to continue improving our reach measurement algorithm, which may require adding third-party providers into the mix.

Ecosystem Impact:

Asami has unique “killer app” potential:

  • It onboards Web2 users with minimal friction—and with an economic incentive—straight into Rootstock.
  • It works where other advertising options don’t, such as blockchain projects.
  • If we keep working on it, we may become a canonical tool for measuring online social media reach.

It is also a Rootstock exclusive.

Conclusion:

Asami will be a permanent fixture of the Rootstock ecosystem.
You’ll see it when a newbie asks for a good RSK wallet to claim their first 5 DOC.
You’ll see it in the tweets of people announcing they joined the club.
Or maybe even when one of your tweets blows up for no apparent reason.

Please support us. We can put all contributions, big or small, to good use toward our mission.

Great to see your journey from grantee to Builder Rewards. The Rootstock Collective Magic is working!

We changed the title to conform with our standards here.

Our proposal was defeated,

Given how our last proposal passed, I’m guessing it has to do with the differences between this and that one.

The main difference is this time, if activated as a builder, we’re going to use the money to fund ongoing expenses such as server costs, developing new features, and giving tech support to collaborators and advertisers.

Maybe the crowd here just wants to fund campaigns on behalf of other projects and make sure the money received by asami ends up 100% in collaborator hands. (of course that for that to happen, ongoing costs must also be paid, but we can look for funding for that elsewhere.)

What would be a good way to learn why our proposal failed, and validate these assumptions, before sending a new proposal?

Hey Nubis,

First, sorry for the late reply, this somehow fell through the cracks.

Wrt testing why the proposal was defeated: It could be many things, including the timing of the on-chain poll. You submitted your proposal on January 10th, which was a Friday.

In general the best days to submit proposals are Monday and Tuesday as this is when most people pay attention.

Maybe you could resubmit your proposal here on the forum with a bit more structure and information and a chart or two, and then push to another on-chain poll two to three days later?

We will also have the Shepherds group come on-line shortly. These will aid in voting on proposals and make it easier to meet quorum.
