Thanks @Georgia for sharing this proposal, I really like the structure and the focus on regional presence. It’s encouraging to see this kind of thoughtful approach to community building and ecosystem growth.

I was wondering how the ambassador selection process is envisioned. Will it be an open call, or more of a nomination-based approach?

Hey, thanks for the question!!

Here’s a rough draft of the process I had in mind:

  • CV screening
  • Initial 30-minute call with the Community Manager
  • Task (could be proof of work, etc.)
  • Final interview with the Ecosystem Director
  • Offer

I’m still working on the details, but this is the initial outline.

I think it’s great to have these ambassadors. It would be much better if the payments were made in USDRIF or DOC.

Proposal Title

Launch of the RootstockCollective Ambassador Program

Executive Summary

This proposal introduces the RootstockCollective Ambassador Program, a structured initiative designed to activate community members as grassroots advocates of the DAO and the broader Rootstock ecosystem. The program empowers selected Ambassadors to carry out regionally relevant actions in exchange for performance-based crypto rewards. Given that the DAO currently does not support monthly recurring payments, funds will be transferred to the RootstockCollective Foundation, which will manage appointments, action validation, and disbursements on behalf of the DAO.

Problem Statement

The DAO lacks a scalable, systematic framework for engaging and rewarding community contributors who consistently promote the ecosystem. While many community members express interest in contributing, there is no formal structure for appointing, managing, or incentivising them. Furthermore, the DAO’s infrastructure does not currently support recurring monthly disbursements, making long-term programs like an ambassador initiative technically impractical without an operational intermediary.

Proposed Solution/Action

This proposal calls for the deployment of the RootstockCollective Ambassador Program, which will:

  • Select and appoint ambassadors through the RootstockCollective Foundation
  • Define a monthly set of tasks ambassadors must complete (e.g., content creation, community moderation, community engagement)
  • Reward ambassadors with monthly payouts in crypto
  • Operate under a defined set of Terms & Conditions accepted by each ambassador
  • Provide monthly reporting and transparency to the community

The Foundation will be empowered to manage all operational aspects of the program, including ambassador appointments, task validation, and fund disbursement.

Justification and Benefits

  • Builds localised awareness and engagement for the DAO
  • Enables consistent advocacy across diverse regions and languages
  • Offers a structured, transparent pathway for contributors
  • Supports community-led growth with scalable governance

Potential Risks and Mitigation

  • Misalignment: Mitigated by formal T&Cs and the ability to terminate ambassadors
  • Reputational risk: Ambassadors must comply with a code of conduct and regional guidelines
  • Operational delays: Reduced by empowering the Foundation to act as the implementation entity

Dependencies

  • Treasury disbursement of the full program budget to the RootstockCollective Foundation
  • Availability of the Foundation to administer rewards and reporting
  • Community alignment on ambassador expectations and onboarding process

Open Questions/Discussion Points

  • What regional/language priorities should we focus on next?

Conflicts of Interest

There are no known conflicts of interest related to this proposal.

Funding Request

Total Funding Requested: 6,000 USDC for a 3-month pilot

Budget Breakdown:

  • Ambassador Rewards:
    • Ambassador 1: 3,000 USDC (1,000 USDC x 3 months)
    • Ambassador 2: 3,000 USDC (1,000 USDC x 3 months)

Funding Source: DAO Treasury

Disbursement Schedule:

  • Full amount to be sent upfront to the RootstockCollective Foundation
  • Foundation will manage monthly milestone-based payouts.

Justification: The DAO does not support recurring payments; therefore, the Foundation will act as the fund administrator for the duration of the program.

Accountability and Reporting

  • Monthly task reports and wallet addresses are shared publicly on the Forum
  • On-chain proof of payouts
  • Quarterly reviews to evaluate impact and suggest iterations
  • Clear documentation of deliverables and program changes

Contingency Planning

  • Unused or unearned funds will be returned to the DAO
  • The Foundation retains the right to suspend or terminate any ambassador in breach of the T&Cs
  • If needed, the program may be paused and redesigned based on community feedback

Foundation Implementation Powers

Should this proposal be approved by the RootstockCollective community, the community hereby acknowledges and grants the RootstockCollective Foundation (or its legally designated representatives) the necessary powers and authority to act on behalf of the RootstockCollective to implement the provisions of this proposal. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Appointing and removing ambassadors
  • Managing and disbursing funds transferred by the DAO Treasury
  • Validating monthly ambassador deliverables
  • Executing agreements with ambassadors under the provided Terms and Conditions
  • Undertaking any other actions reasonably required to execute this proposal

The Foundation will provide regular updates and maintain transparency in all activities related to the program.

Seeing that this proposal is moving forward, we would like to partner with the ambassadors selected to improve QuestHub (proposal 2507) if the project is approved. QuestHub is a way to empower users into the RSK ecosystem, and we believe it can be a great source of new ambassadors. What is the best way to check if this could be valuable for the ambassadors program?

We found this is an interesting initiative to establish the RootstockCollective Ambassador Program, which offers a structured and scalable framework for engaging and rewarding community contributors to promote the ecosystem.

We suggest adopting a regional evaluation process similar to Scroll approach to Ambassador Program to determine strategic priorities. This method involves a thorough assessment of potential regions to identify those with the highest impact and growth opportunities for the Rootstock ecosystem.

A regional evaluation for the next Rootstock Ambassador should consider several key factors:

  • Existing Web3 and Crypto Adoption: Regions with high existing grassroots crypto adoption and a significant user base could be prime targets.
  • Developer Ecosystem: Prioritizing regions with a rapidly expanding developer community and active Web3 projects could help in capturing long-term developer mindshare and infrastructure alignment for Rootstock.
  • Community Engagement: Assessing the potential for local meetups, workshops, and hackathons would be crucial. Scroll’s local nodes, for instance, define minimum tasks for Local Node, including hosting meetups and developer workshops.
  • Strategic Importance and Untapped Markets: Identifying regions where Rootstock currently has limited direct exposure but significant potential for growth could maximize the impact of ambassador efforts.

By taking this evaluative approach, Rootstock can make well-informed decisions about where to put our resources for the Ambassador Program. This will ensure that efforts are concentrated in areas that will yield the greatest return in terms of local awareness for Rootstock.

QuestHub sounds like a great complement. For example, I could see Ambassadors informally testing quests or sharing relevant ones with their communities

The regional evaluation idea from Scroll fits really well with where Rootstock seems to be heading.

This Ambassador Program already feels like the first step toward a broader “local node” model. It’s approved, has region-specific roles (LATAM and Europe), KPIs, and a clear reporting structure. Solid groundwork all around.

At the same time, other grassroots proposals are popping up that could complement this:

  • ONG Bitcoin Argentina is prepped to launch on-chain, with a strong team and deep roots across Ibero-America
  • Rootstock Arabia didn’t pass, but the concept is there, showing interest from underrepresented regions like MENA
  • The Barcelona Hackathon sounds like a great activation and could be a strong match with QuestHub’s gamified learning. It also includes a focus on learning about Collective governance, which could help more people get involved

Would be awesome to see where this could go next. Africa and Southeast Asia have real grassroots momentum in Web3.

Personally, I love seeing what’s happening in the Ethereum ecosystem. I’ve counted over 40 active Ethereum local communities (Lisbon, Bogotá, Milan, etc.). Local energy, global alignment. Would love to see Rootstock build something similar, and I think the first Collective Ambassadors can play a big role in making that happen.

Hi there! Greetings from Brazil

These are my first steps in the collective and I confess that after reading the whitepaper, understanding how it works and reading the forum, I’d love to introduce myself.

I’m a veteran fox with solid onchain reputation and milestones at ShapeShift DAO + having served two governance approved proposal as former Head of Globalization. I’m also Tokennation (a major web3 event in Brazil) founder, currently running it’s 3rd edition on a iconic 50’s modernist building in Sao Paulo.

Since I haven’t yet found a design scope for Brazil, I’m submitting my application for the Collective Ambassador position. With more details, links and pow.

Happy to connect here or on Discord =)

ps: If this already filled, would love to understand if an stand-alone proposal aiming Tokennation sponsorship also fits (I believe it would be through a different channel, maybe a Grant?).

Cheers!
